The Joy of Gifting Books: Percy Jackson

While working the middle school book fair, a student dropped by asking if we had the first Percy Jackson book. As a HUGE fan of the series, I was immediately excited to talk about it. He said that he’d heard great things about Percy Jackson, but had never actually read the books himself.

We had the newest Percy Jackson and the Olympians title at the fair, but I encouraged him to start with the O.G.: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

The school library’s copy was checked out, but he said he’d look for it. So when I went to purchase Murtagh that night (see post here), I made sure to add a copy of The Lightning Thief to my cart too.

When I handed it to him a few days later as he walked by the library, he was definitely caught off guard, but excited. I love the joy of seeing someone light up receiving a book selected just for them.
