I’ve always wanted to have a Little Free Library (“LFL”) in front of my house. The catch is, I live in a pretty rural area that doesn’t get a lot of traffic. So when the opportunity presented itself to help put a LFL in my town’s Art Park, I jumped on it!
In 2024, the Fall City Art Park underwent an amazing renovation, led by Jess Buttermore of Cedarhouse Living, whose vision and leadership helped transform the space for the entire community.
Jess invited two local Girl Scout troops to contribute a Little Free Library and Little Free Seed Library as part of the project. The Junior troop generously funded the library kit, the girls worked together to build it, and our Brownie troop took on the responsibility of stocking and maintaining it.

Once the LFL was installed, our Brownie troop met at the Art Park to make bookmarks, stock the library with donated books, and label and fill seed packets for the Little Free Seed Library that’s attached to our LFL.

Today, the Little Free Library and Little Free Seed Library sit in the heart of the Fall City Art Park, ready to share books, seeds, and a little bit of community with anyone who stops by. I love knowing that the girls helped create something that will continue serving the community long after the ribbon was cut, the photos were taken, and the Girl Scout badge was earned.
A huge thank you to the incomparable Jess Buttermore and everyone involved in bringing the Art Park renovation to life. It was an honor to play a tiny role in helping make that vision a reality.
